  • Label A small piece of paper, fabric, plastic, or similar material attached to an object and giving information about it.
  • Last Carrier The participating carrier over whose air routes the last section of carriage under the Ticket is undertaken or performed.
  • Late Cancellation A reservation cancelled after the latest appropriate time prior to scheduled departure time specified by the Member.
  • Lateral Arm Lateral distance in length units from the aircraft centerline to the location. Linear dimensions extending to the left of the aircraft centerline are specified as negative and those extending to the right as positive.
  • Lateral Imbalance Expression of any imbalance caused by off-center loading of payload and/or fuel.
  • Lateral Imbalance Limit Limit of any imbalance caused by off-center loading of payload and/or fuel.
  • Lateral Imbalance Limit Table Set of related Lateral Imbalance Limits.
  • LAW Landing Weight. Weight of an aircraft at landing. It is calculated by subtracting the trip fuel from the take-off weight.
  • Leading Edge The end point forward of the mean aerodynamic chord.
  • Leg The space between two consecutive scheduled stops on any given flight.
  • Leg The operation between a departure station and the next arrival station.
  • Length A measurement or extent of something from end to end; the greater of two or the greatest of three dimensions of an object.
  • License Plate A unique identifier composed of the Baggage Tag Issuer Code (BTIC) and the tag serial number.
  • Limitation A principle that limits the extent of something.
  • Limited Agreement An agreement reached by two or more TC Members; binding on those Members who are party to it and upon those Members not present at the Conference who operate Third/Fourth or Fifth Freedom Services between the countries between which the agreement is to apply.
  • Line A curve connecting all points having a specified common property.
  • Linear Load Limitation See running load limitation.
  • Load Configuration Planned utilization layout of aircraft hold.
  • Load Information Code Code enabling to identify load categories and to give information in connection with ULD handling for use in traffic documents and messages.
  • Load Sheet A legal document which states the weight data and the balance condition of the loaded aircraft for each individual flight. The term load sheet includes provisional load sheet, final load sheet, ACARS load sheet or any other approved form of transmission.
  • Load Sheet Output Requirement Requirement to put specific balance, passenger trim or supplementary information on specific types of load sheet (provisional, final, ACARS,...).
  • Loaded Index at LAW A numerical representation of the C of G of the aircraft at landing weight expressed in index units.
  • Loaded Index at TOW A numerical representation of the C of G of the aircraft at take-off weight expressed in index units.
  • Loaded Index at ZFW A numerical representation of the C of G of the aircraft at zero fuel weight expressed in index units.
  • Local Charge A charge which applies for carriage over the lines of a single carrier.
  • Local Combination Combination of two fare components to create a single pricing unit - this also applies to the combination of two one-way fares, provided the second fare component returns to the country of origin of the first fare component. NOTES: 1) Canada and USA are considered one country 2) Scandinavia is considered one country
  • Local Currency Fares Fares and related charges expressed in the currency of the country of commencement of travel. See Resolution 024a for those countries where the US Dollar is used for local currency
  • Local Fare A fare which applies for carriage over the lines of a single carrier.
  • Local Passenger A passenger who is in touch directly (or through another person) with the airline’s local office, or is in touch with the airline’s local office through a travel agent or local office of another Member.
  • Local Rate A rate which applies for carriage over the lines of a single carrier.
  • Local Reservation A reservation for a passenger who has booked directly with an airline’s local office or through a local travel agent or local office of another Member located in the same metropolitan area, or the area served by the airport(s) of your city.
  • Location A particular place or position.

  • Lock ULD restraint which can be fixed within the aircraft.
  • Logistics Item An item connected with the movement of cargo, bags, or passengers for operations.
  • Logistics Item Incident An event related to a logistics item that occurs spontaneously, but to which the organization is required to respond.
  • Logistics Item Status The status of a logistics item at a particular time in a process.
  • Lost Baggage A piece(s) of baggage which is irretrievably lost. (called ’Baggage, Loss’ in Reso 780)
  • Loyalty Program A rewards program offered by a company to customers who frequently make purchases, which may give a customer advanced access to new products, special sales coupons or free merchandise.
  • Loyalty Program Account An account set up for a customer within a loyalty program.
  • Loyalty Redemption A form of payment by which the customer uses a virtual currency of a Loyalty Program Account (such as air miles) in exchange for goods or services.
  • Lozenge The start/stop character used in conjunction with an OCR document number on flight coupons to identify the 13-digit numbering scheme as opposed to the 12-digit scheme.
